FAQ
How much freezer space do I need? For a 1/4 beef you will receive 90 pounds of meat and will need about 3-1/2 cubic feet of freezer space (a small chest freezer). For a 1/2 beef you will receive 180 pounds of meat and will need 7 cubic feet of space ( a medium sized chest freezer) or approximately 1 cubic foot of space per 26 pounds of meat.
What kind of freezer should I get? A chest or upright freezer is a great option. What's the difference? With a chest freezer you can store more pounds per cubic foot but it is harder to keep it organized and access cuts that may be on the bottom of the freezer. With an upright freezer it is easier to keep your beef organized but you cannot store as many pounds per cubic foot.
How long will my beef last? All our beef comes in vacuum sealed packages so it should last 1-2 years in the freezer. Note: if you have a package that becomes damaged eat it first as it will become freezer burnt sooner.
How is the beef packaged? It comes vacuum sealed. Most steaks are in 8-12 ounce packages, ground beef 16 ounce packages, and roasts are generally 3 pounds.
Can I change one or two cuts? Yes, families will ask to change out one cut for another. Example: Skip the chuck roast worth $120 we will then add $120 worth of your preferred cut.
How thick are the steaks? We cut our steaks between 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 inch thick except for Filet Mignon which are cut to around 2 inches
Is it worth it? Most chest freezers cost about $30 a cubic foot at Menards and you will save $49 per cubic foot on our 1/4 beef vs. buying those cuts at retail price. Before you will have eaten your first 1/4 beef you will have paid your freezer off. You will also enjoy the peace of mind that comes from a freezer full of clean nutrient rich beef and knowing where your next meal will come from.
What if my freezer turns off? Invest in one of these wifi thermometers from Amazon that will alert you when your freezer gets above a certain temperature. It's what we use in ours.
What if I don't like the meat? We back all our beef with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. If something is wrong or you don't like it we will make it right.
